Mfa's house to be auctioned

FRANCISTOWN: The property of former Assistant Minister, Olifant Mfa, is under the hammer. An advertisement from the Francistown High Court indicates that Mfa's residential land, plot 1659, in Extension Seven Location in Francistown will be auctioned on September 28. The property is under the hammer after the former Sebina-Gweta MP failed to repay Capital Bank a loan in the sum of P313,565.29.

The deputy registrar of the Francistown High Court, Gee Ketlogetswe granted a default judgment last month against Mfa after he failed to defend himself. He was served with a writ of summons on May 12, 2011 to which he was expected to respond within 14 days. Mfa did not respond to the summons, and a judgment in default of appearance was granted against him last month.

"The defendant not having entered appearance to the writ of summons herein, it is this day adjourned that the plaintiff recovers against the said defendant the sum of P313 565.29," the deputy registrar ordered.
