MELS Slams The Media For Bad Publicity

He said the public and the private media never seek the views of the party before writing bad things about it. Tawanana was speaking at the MELS manifesto presentation hosted by the University of Botswana Political Science Society. He applauded the society for being "above partisan politics and extending the invitation to MELS to present its side of the story".
Tawanana baffled the audience when he said his party is prepared to govern the country either through parliamentary or extra-parliamentary means if need be. "The tactics we will use to attain power will depend on what the situation is and is bound to change from time to time," he said. Tawanana was put to task after the comments by people who wondered whether Batswana should trust his party with their already troubled democracy. However, he said his comments are not cast in stone. He described MELS as a movement for the people and they are determined to fight imperialism to the bitter end. He said as long as imperialism prevails, capitalism will never cease to exist.
