Botswana has taken a significant step forward in the treatment of prostate cancer with the completion of successful cases of Prostate Brachytherapy at the Medlane Day Hospital on Saturday.

This innovative procedure was carried out by a team of accomplished doctors led by Dr Daou Gdeh, a renowned urologist, and Dr Antonia Bunga, an experienced radiation oncologist. Prostate Brachytherapy is a form of internal radiation therapy that involves placing small radioactive 'seeds' inside the prostate gland to destroy cancer cells.

The successful completion of these cases is a significant milestone for the country's medical community, as it means that men with prostate cancer now have access to an advanced form of treatment that was not previously available in Botswana. The use of brachytherapy in the treatment of prostate cancer has shown efficacy, with minimal side effects and a high success rate.
