Media accused of mystifying traditional knowledge

The media has been criticised for mystifying Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) in its reportage.

An official of the Department of Research, Science and Technology in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Science and Technology says instead of focusing on making people knowledgeable about IKS, the media has a tendency of sensationalising irrelevant issues such as boloi (witchcraft) just so their newspapers may sell.

Oabona Monngakgotla was speaking at Pitso Ya Ngwao on Tuesday where he said if this behaviour did not change, integration of IKS in Botswana society would remain difficult.
