MDT to take legal action against previous board

MMADINARE: The Mmadinare Development Trust (MDT) is expected to take legal action against the previous board after auditors revealed that funds in the region of P30,000 were unaccounted for.

The decision to take legal action against the previous board of trustees was made at the MDT Annual General Meeting.  The local community there was unanimous in the decision that action be taken against those responsible for the missing funds. Investigations by the current board on the missing money have revealed that the missing money was withdrawn by some members of the previous board.  The Trust's treasurer, Motshegetsi Tukisi, said during their investigations Standard Chartered Bank furnished them with copies of withdrawal slips as proof that the money was withdrawn and used by the former board members.

"The information provided by the bank proved that the money was withdrawn before the new committee was elected into office and even by the time when we were already in the office, but had not yet been handed over to the Trust's accounts," he said.
