Mayor credits council for good PSLE results

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The new mayor here, Tebogo Matlhogonolo has attributed the success of the town's schools in the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results to efforts by the council and other stakeholders to create an enabling environment for both teachers and pupils.

Selebi-Phikwe topped the country with an 87 percent pass rate and Grade A candidates at 30.7 percent.Matlhogonolo said the council's investment in the implementation of recommendations of the Commission on Education a few years ago has paid dividends.

He said it has become a culture for Selebi-Phikwe to become PSLE champions every year.  "It has now become a culture and it motivates teachers to maintain the trend lest they destroy the record. Even new teachers coming in, strive to fit into the system," he said.
