While acting as President, Khama has powers to dissolve Parliament, powers to appoint, and dismiss a minister, as provided for in the constitution.
Other movements include acting appointment of Monica Tselayakgosi as National Coordinator of National Aids Coordinating Agency (NACA) on May 18th, Barbara Dithapo as Acting Clerk of National Assembly on 18th May while Dr Micus Chimbombi was appointed Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture from 18th to 24th May.
Meanwhile, the Government Gazette has revealed that the number of officers who qualify to be Commissioner of Oaths has been increased.
Among the new developments, members of the Botswana Police Service below the rank of sergeant and appointed as Post Commander can act as Commissioner of Oaths at the District within which the officer is posted.
At the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) Warrant Officer Class II are empowered to be Commissioner of Oaths.
At the Office of the President, all officers at C1 level up to permanent secretary to the President have powers to be commissioners of oaths.
At the Directorate of Corruption and Economic Crimes (DCEC), positions from Assistant Anti-Corruption Officer to that of Director have been upgraded to be commissioners of oaths while at the office of the ombudsman administrative officers have also been upgraded.
