Matshekge teachers don casual clothes in protest

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Teachers at Matshekge Hill School have resolved to wear casual clothes to class in protest against acute shortage of water in the village.

The teachers' action actually began on Tuesday with their union indicating that the 'linen protest' would continue until the water situation was addressed after visiting the school on Wednesday. Matshekge teachers have even resolved to petition the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Grace Muzila.

The Administrative Secretary of the Botswana Teachers Union Assistant, Elson Baeletsi, told Mmegi the problem was affecting the welfare of the teachers, saying it was difficult for them to observe the stipulated dress code without water.  The teachers had exhausted all channels to register their concerns.
