Former Debswana group secretary, Joseph Matome is a free man, albeit temporarily.

Matome tasted freedom after serving seven months of his two-year sentence imposed by then Magistrate Lot Moroka and confirmed by the High Court on appeal.

Court of Appeal judge John McNally freed Matome after the state made an application that they were not prepared to argue their leave to appeal application as they received records of proceedings very late. Senior State Counsel Matlhogonolo Phuthego told the court that they received the record on Thursday afternoon hence were ill prepared to argue the case.
