Masitara evades tax man's noose

High Court judge, Ian Kirby has postponed to February 2008 the case in which Masitara Investments disputes the Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) demand of over P800, 000 in tax.

Yesterday, lawyers acting for BURS, Sadique Kebonang Attorneys, challenged Masitara's lawyer, Doreen Khama's application asking the court to suspend action on the judgment requiring her client to comply with the Commissioner General's finding that he owes the government that amount in tax.

Judge Kirby deferred the case to February next year to give Khama time to respond to heads of argument filed yesterday by BURS' attorneys.
