Masisi withdraws HIV/AIDS policy

Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mokgweetsi Masisi has withdrawn the HIV/AIDS policy he presented to Parliament last week pending comprehensive consultations with various stakeholders.

The policy attracted widespread criticism from all Members of Parliament (MPs), as well as human rights activists who said that instead of the policy, government should come up with a law that will protect people living with HIV/AIDS.

One of the MPs, who criticised the policy, was MP for Gaborone Central Dumelang Saleshando who accused President Ian Khama of not doing enough to fight the AIDS scourge.
