Marshall implicates OP in BMC debacle

The Office of the President (OP) has been implicated in the misconduct alleged to have been going on at the Botswana Meat Commission. In his appearance before the Special Select Parliamentary Committee on Monday, former general manager of cattle procurement Clive Marshall said he received a call from the OP, pressuring him to advance fees to a local feed-lotting company.
Marshall said Fresh Taste, the company in question, is owned by the wife of former Director of Roads Kabo Kote.Marshall said he found that Fresh Taste had an "inadequate system" and that they could not feed for the BMC. He also believed that they did not have management capabilities to handle feeding for the BMC.He said after he rejected the company's proposal, he received a call from the OP, from the Private Secretary to the President."He called me asking if BMC schemes are available to all Batswana," he said.
