Marriage school to curb divorce

It is no secret that in today's world, marriage is no longer what it used to be. Despite their dire financial and emotional costs, divorce has become as commonplace as buying new furniture.

It is this worrying divorce trend, and high prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases in Botswana, that has prompted the elders of the Gloryfied Church of God in Zion, a Mochudi-based church to establish a school for young men and women who are ready for marriage.

Founding Archbishop of the church, Frances Ngwenya, who is a licensed marriage officer said in addition to grounding their students in the Christian faith, their teachings include emphasising respect for one's parents, abstaining from sex before showing intent to marry (by reporting to either family or church elders), faithfulness as well as testing for diseases before succumbing to sex.
