Mario's case forwarded to DPP

The case in which popular Btv and RB2 presenter Lovemore Mario and his female companion crashed into a homestead at Block 5 in the early hours of Wednesday last week has been forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Station traffic officer at Gaborone West Police Station Assistant Superintendent Edwin Mothusi confirmed that they have forwarded the case to DPP. He said Mario had exceeded the alcohol limit."We have confirmed that the woman who is alleged to have been driving is not under age as she is 23-years-old," said Mothusi. He also revealed that Mario and the owner of the property damaged in the incident agreed to negotiate a settlement. According to Mothusi, it is not yet clear who was driving at the time of the accident. He said a witness testified that he found the woman in the driver's seat after the accident. Mario is alleged to have told the police that he had lost direction and wanted to reverse when the car crashed into the screen wall.
