Marina medics join strike

The public service strike gained momentum yesterday with more workers downing tools to press the demand for a 16 percent salary hike.

At least 50 doctors from Princess Marina Hospital joined the strike after staying away on Monday because they were not sure about their status.

"We did not join the strike yesterday (Monday) because there was the issue of 30 percent of essential staff that needed to remain working, and once that was clarified, we had no reason not to join our colleagues," said a spokesperson for the doctors, Odirile Bakae.
