Maoka student wins essay competition

A 14-year-old former student of Maoka Junior Secondary School has scooped the best overall student prize for essay competition for Urban Schools by the Botswana Institute of Bankers.

Tumisang Tereke participated in the competition last year when she was doing her form three at the school and wrote an essay under the topic "How savings can improve individuals quality of life and how banks can help."

Under the coaching of her English teacher Gaone Moloi she beat all the students who took part countrywide to emerge the overall best amongst the top seven best students and pocketed a P1 000 cash prize.
