Managers 'test' by example

The Standard Chartered Bank chief executive officer, David Cutting said Wednesday that it was due to few staff having gone for HIV testing that management decided to lead by example by going through it publicly.

Cutting, who was with his senior staff at Diagnofirm Medical Laboratories, said that they wanted to re-emphasise the importance of testing. He asked how else they could convince staff, if they did not lead the way. 

"We wanted to show them it is possible to do this and to do it anonymously," he said.
Cutting said that confidentiality seemed to be the concern of many, hence they chose a place with a good reputation.
