Man kills girlfriend, son

A 24-year-old man has been been arrested after he allegedly killed his 22-year-old girlfriend and their one-year seven months old son using a digging metal rod (kepu). Moshupa Police Sation Commander, Michael Maphephu has confirmed the incident.

Maphephu said the murder occurred in the early hours of May 4,  as a result of a misunderstanding that had occurred the day before between the couple. The man from Monneng ward in Manyana is said to have entered the house at 4am and hit the duo on their heads using the metal rod while they were asleep. The suspect was also in possession of a knife.

He is expected to appear for mention at the Kanye Magistrates Court on a date still to be set. Meanwhile a 37-year-old soldier based at the Glen Valley camp committed suicide yesterday afternoon after killing his 26-year-old undergraduate girlfriend at the University of Botswana.
