Man Gets 12 Months For Defilement

The Gaborone Village Magistrate Court has sentenced Khumo Mogojwa to 12 months' imprisonment for defilement.

The prosecution's case was that Mogojwa had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in Mogoditshane in February last year, when he knew or had reason to believe that she was underage.

Magistrate Olivier Zvedi said she took into consideration the seriousness of the offence, the personal circumstances of the accused and the interest of the society before arriving at the sentence.
