A 40-year-old man from Bokaa has died after falling into an open trench at Sefoke ward in Tlokweng.

The deceased's lifeless body was found by a passerby yesterday morning inside the trench who later reported the incident to the police. Police have since ruled out foul play stating that the deceased was reportedly seen walking out of a local bar visibly intoxicated the previous night.

Tlokweng police station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari said after receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene where on arrival they saw the deceased’s foot steps walking towards the trench and the marks on top of the trench where he was sitting.

“We suspect that since he was last seen intoxicated walking out of the bar, he might have tried to rest by sitting on top of the trench and later fell down into the trench. The deceased was certified dead by doctors upon arrival at Mafitlhakgosi clinic. However, investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what really transpired as we are still waiting for post mortem results,” Rari said.
