The two government radio stations are undergoing a major re-organisation with staff redeployments that will possibly result in the fall of one of the two popular Radio Botswana One (RB 1) Masa-a-Sele presenters - Mmoloki 'Small' Mothibi or Thuso 'Thuzoski' Letlhoma.

A source at the Mass Media Complex said that a female presenter has been redeployed to join the two, raising suspicions that one of them might have to give way for her. The redeployment will affect popular RB 1 programmes like Around The World Today whose presenter Idah Maele moved to join Entertainment and Culture with Henri Seetso and Mmoni Melete.

They are moving together with veteran journalist Michael Ditlhakeng to join Margaret Modise in the programme. Ditlhakeng has been deputy head of News and Current Affairs at RB 1. The position has been left vacant. "This move has provoked a feeling that Ditlhakeng will subsequently be appointed head of the department. They are in the same salary scale with Modise and already there are reports of some kind of resistance from staff who had been in the department," a source at the Mass Media Complex said. The source added that it is disturbing for the two members of staff to be in the same salary scale. It is not clear whether presenter of RB1 Sunday morning show - Dipina le Maboko - Mogatusi Kwapa woud be replaced.

One of the editors at News and Current Affairs Boikhutso Rabasha has been moved to RB2 at the same salary scale as Eva Jackson who has been heading the station, the source claimed. "This has also provoked suspicions that Rabasha will subsequently be head of RB2," the source added. It is said there are still pending questions about the organisational structure. Attempts to get a comment from senior officers at Mass Media Complex were futile at the time of going to press.
