Magistrate to deliver judgement in warders' case

Gaborone Magistrate Abgail Masau is expected to deliver judgment tomorrow in a case in which four prison warders are charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

The suspects Oganne Dekesu, Daniel Poulo, Mpho Basia and Onkgolotse Mokgatle are alleged to have assaulted a Zimbabwean man, Willington Madubeko, who was admitted as an in-patient at Princess Marina Hospital in August last year.

Madubeko said he lost two teeth during the severe assault. The incident is said to have occurred when the suspects were guarding prisoners who were also in-patients at the hospital. The four officers have been facing trial at the Extension II Magistrates' Court.  They have all pleaded not guilty.
