Magistrate orders suspect to see a doctor

FRANCISTOWN: Acting chief magistrate, Lorraine Makati-Lesang has ordered the police to take an ailing suspect to the doctor.

Maximillon Dunatuna, 23, who is facing three counts of assaulting a magistrate, damage to government property and escape from lawful custody, was mumbling when cross-examining a state witness, William Kamvura, when Makati-Lesang noticed that all was not well with him. The magistrate intervened when a phlegmatic Dunatuna fired only three to four questions at the cocky and stockily built Kamvura. She enquired whether the accused realised that he was facing three counts.

"You are facing three counts. Are you sure you have covered all the questions? What about whether the witness has seen you assault the magistrate? Also, you do not look as energetic as I know you," she said in a motherly tone.
