Magama 'floors' BNF - again

Botswana National Front has suffered a major setback in their quest to have a re-run in Gaborone South constituency when the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Akanyang Magama emerged victorious yet again in Lobatse yesterday.

A panel of three Court of Appeal judges, Lord Abernethy, Justice Michael Modibedi and Craig Howie upheld the High Court judge, Justice Isaac Lesetedi's ruling that Magama is the legitimate BNF candidate for Gaborone South and the decision of the National Elections Appeals Committee to order a re-run in Gaborone South was illegal.

In an earlier application to the High Court, Magama challenged and won against the BNF's decision to order a re-run in Gaborone South after he defeated Gaborone lawyer, Tebogo Sebego, in the primary elections.
