Magama angry at GCC over Old Naledi

Member of Parliament for Gaborone South Akanyang Magama has pointed a finger at the Gaborone City Council (GCC) for the delay in the envisaged upgrading of Old Naledi. The project, which has been on and off for about four years now seems to be on the 'off' stage again.

"I have recently enquired about the progress and was told that the project is still in its early stages. At this point, we should be at the second phase where tenders for the reconstruction would have been out but the council is still trying to work out the modalities of moving people and compensating them. He expressed exasperation at the slow pace of the project because it might lead to disillusionment from residents.

He said he recently met with the newly elected mayor, Harry Mothei, to express his frustrations regarding the project.
