The meeting was hosted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, one of the two founders of the partnership, the other partner being the Merck & Co.,Inc/Merck Company Foundation. The meeting provided a forum for members to meet and share the work that ACHAP is doing in Botswana and to discuss the future of the partnership with senior staff of the Global Health Program and senior executives of the Gates Foundation. The meeting also provided members with the opportunity to share perspectives on the contribution that the partnership between the Botswana government and the Bill & Melinda Gates and Merck Company Foundations have made in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Botswana.
The Madikwe Forum members were welcomed by Mr. William H. Gates Sr, Co-Chair of the Foundation, who expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Botswana for the partnership, and for enabling the Madikwe Forum members to hold discussions and share views on strategic issues.
