PRESS STATEMENT: Lucara Botswana has over the last few weeks been engaging the Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) on the organisational optimisation process currently undertaken by the company.

Consultations with the union on the matter are ongoing. We are surprised by the press release that was allegedly issued by the union. Our obligation to maintain confidentiality concerning our engagement with the union precludes us from fully responding to the allegations made in

the press release at this stage.

However, Lucara rejects the purported truthfulness of the contents

of the press release and the defamatory and seditious statements made against its Managing Director and the company. The conduct of the union does nothing but strains the cordial relationship that has hitherto existed between the parties.

Lucara does not intend to address the unions’ position outlined in news media reports released in the public domain but will do so within the

confines of the existing agreements between the company and the union.

We want to assure everyone that Lucara Botswana and Lucara Diamond Corporation adhere to the highest levels of integrity, governance and ethics, and religiously comply with the laws of the country.
