LSB demands consistency in bench appointments

The Law Society of Botswana (LSB) has said it is not impressed by inconsistencies in the appointment of some judges.

Speaking at a press briefing on the legal year at the Society's Secretariat in Gaborone yesterday, LSB chairperson Yvonne Chilume said the laid down procedure for appointment to the Bench is that there should be an advertisement, interview and recommendation by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to the President before appointment.

Chilume said this procedure should apply to the appointment of High Court and Court of Appeal judges.
