It was business as usual as President Ian Khama celebrated his 62nd birthday on Friday, a top presidential aide has revealed.

Khama’s senior private secretary, George Tlhalerwa said the first citizen was doing routine office work on his birthday and held a number of meetings with cabinet ministers and the private sector.

The President’s celebrations contrasted vastly with his northern peer, Robert Mugabe, on whom more than US$1 million was reportedly spent in lavish resort town celebrations that featured all manner of game meat and numerous expensive treats.
