Lovers left out in the cold as park is shut

FRANCISTOWN: They imagined sitting under shady trees inside Central Park and having their lunch. But this couple ended up squatting on an uncomfortable concrete bench outside the park with the sun beating down on them as they shoved food down their throats in the glare of the public.

It has been a long time since the council closed the park for renovation purposes and they have duly put up signs by the gates apologising for the inconvenience caused to the public.

While members of the public are now agitating for its reopening,saying it has been closed for a long time, some vendors and office workers in the vicinity felt it is good riddance to some degree. Street vendors, among themTshepiso Kentse, 22, said they were subjected to shameful acts at the park and hence it was a good thing it was closed by the council.
