Local Producers Enraged By Btv's Japanese Content

Government's decision to source content from Japan to be aired on the state-owned Botswana Television (Btv) has upset local producers.

They say receiving programming from a country whose television industry is blossoming like Japan would badly affect the local industry because as producers they would not have a platform for growth.  The project dubbed, 'Project for the Improvement of TV programmes' is waiting for the next Japanese financial year, which commences in April.  Under the said programme, Japan will provide 36 Japanese programmes with 444 episodes.

Musician-cum-producer, Rebaone Keitumele said given the amount of content the Japan Grant Aid Scheme would give to the national broadcaster, there will be limited space to air local productions.
