Local government union trains shop stewards

FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Landboard and Local Authority Workers Union (BLLAWU) wants two political science lecturers from the University Of North West (UNW) in South Africa to train its shop stewards.

BLLAWU publicity secretary, Ishmael William disclosed that the unions have been lecturing their shop stewards during weekends since October 20.
The lecturers, William said, have started with Gaborone, Tlokweng, Mochudi, Molepolole and Letlhakeng.

 
This weekend they will cover Mahalapye, Serowe, Palapye, Letlhakane and Bobonong. On November 10, they will be in Region One that covers Francistown, Selebi- Phikwe, Masunga, Chobe, Tutume and Sua Town.
The shop stewards are studying bargaining, handling grievances at the workplace and trade union politics.
