Lobatse no ghost town - Gaolathe

The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Baledzi Gaolathe says there is no evidence to indicate that Lobatse will become a ghost town, and so government does not have a special dispensation for it, similar to Selebi-Phikwe.

Gaolathe said the mining town's very existence as a town is dependent on the life of the mining operations there.

The Finance Minister was reacting to Lobatse MP Nehemiah Modubule's question in Parliament late Tuesday. The Lobatse MP wanted to know what plans the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning intends to put in place in Lobatse in order to prevent it from becoming a ghost town.
