Load shedding intensifies as temperatures plummet

Falling temperatures across Botswana have forced the country's power supplier, the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) to intensify load shedding as the demand for power has risen sharply.

BPC communications manager, Tlhomamiso Selato told Mmegi last night that the increase in load shedding was necessitated by the plummeting temperatures brought about by a cold front in South Africa.

"Load shedding has intensified due to the dropping temperatures. In some areas, loss of power has been due to some faults. We encourage people to use power efficiently,"  Selato said.
