Litter chokes Francistown

FRANCISTOWN: Francistown City Council, public relations officer, Priscilla Gulubane, says the city is facing a problem of litter. She says the council has minimal resources and sincerely apologised for the current situation.

She points out that there are few vehicles that collect litter in such a big city. "We try as much as possible to follow the routine, but after we have done so it takes time again to go back to the same location, hence causing complaints," she adds.

She says the council collects litter once a weekend, but due to frequent breakdown of refuse collection trucks they are unable to do so. She says the council apologises to the public of Francistown and appeals to them to keep their waste in a secure place while waiting for collection.
