Lions Club International commended for community efforts

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Lions Club International has been commended for its charitable works in the society as well as its contribution towards the development of the country.

Speaking at the Lions Club International District Convention at Makhubu Hall over the weekend, Acting Vice-President, Ponatshego Kedikilwe urged the organisation to continue supporting government's initiatives towards eradicating poverty and ensuring sustainable economic development. Kedikilwe is also the Minister of Minerals and Water Resources.

He said that in August last year Botswana received a grant of US$38,000 to upgrade Sekgoma Memorial Hospital Eye Clinic in Serowe. "In the past Botswana has also received US$ 200,000 to build the Home and Workshop in Selibe-Phikwe and US$ 60,000 to upgrade the Girls and Guide Center in Serowe.
