The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) yesterday hauled Armando Lionjanga, the Executive chairman of the Public Procurement And Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) before the Gaborone Village Magistrate Court on a charge of corruption.

Lionjanga thus joins the long list of personalities who have in the recent past been arraigned before court on charges of corruption. Late last year former Local Government permanent Secretary, Elvidge Mhlauli, was convicted by court, then followed former Debswana strongman,  Louis Nchindo and his co-accused who are accused of corruption.
The same Village court is handling a case in which  up to P17 million was allegedly siphoned from government's Central Medical Stores (CMS) through fraudulent orders.

In the Lionjanga matter, the PPADB boss is charged with corruption, contrary to section 31 (1) as read with section 36 of the Corruption and Economic Crime Act of the Laws of Botswana.
