Limkokwing's SRC engages lawyer over allowances

The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology have engaged Monthe Marumo Attorneys over the sudden stoppage of their living allowance by the Ministry of Education.

According to the letter marked 'urgent' and delivered to the Ministry on Friday, the students complain that they had been assured through a June 1, 2009 letter, signed by the deputy permanent secretary Golekanye Setume, that they would be paid allowances for the June and July vacation and that their accounts would be credited last Friday, June 5, 2009.

The lawyer representing the students stated in the letter that they hold the ministry to the undertaking contained in the letter and demand that the students' accounts be credited by today (Tuesday) or the urgent matter would be presented to the High Court to review.
