Limkokwing lecturers in limbo

The staff are still teaching though their contracts, which allegedly ended on July 23, have not been renewed. One of the lecturers said that they continue to work even though the management has not said anything about their future. The lecturer revealed that they were told that at the end of their one-year contracts last month, they will be employed on permanent and personable terms.
"To my surprise, I have learnt that our contracts will be extended thus we will still work under contracts," the lecturer said. She said they fear for their jobs as more foreigners are being employed at the institution while students admissions are lower than anticipated. "Most of these people (foreigners) take anything that come their way, which makes our work cumbersome when trying to take management to task regarding our grievances," she said. Some foreign lecturers at the college expressed fears that the delay in dealing with the employment status of their local colleagues might be counter-productive. They say some of them might be victimised for taking jobs meant for locals.
