The president of the Botswana National Front Youth League (BNFYL), Tona Mooketsi advised workers at the May Day celebrations held at Linchwe Community Junior Secondary School in Mochudi that they hold the key to their liberation.

"You are your own liberator, so you need no one to pose as your socio-economic, cultural and educational representative and spokesperson. No single class can best represent and speak for the interest of other classes but of and for its own," he explained.

He charged that while workers are creators of the national wealth, they wallow in abject poverty as passive spectators.  He said that for them to enjoy the wealth they create, they have to know the three forms of the class struggle; the economic, the political and the ideological.  He further lobbied support for the Umbrella, which comprises of the BNF, the Botswana Movement for Democracy and the Botswana People's Party.
