FRANCISTOWN: Infamous for illicit drug distribution, Letlhakane village is now becoming a hotspot for dagga and methcathinone sale popularly known as ‘cat’.

According to Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu, 16 drug-related cases have been recorded since the beginning of the year.

He said drug distribution has become a challenge in their policing area adding they have made arrests in different business and school premises. Maphephu said the drug dealers usually target unemployed youth to distribute dagga, ‘cat’ and other drugs in the community and amongst students. He said over the weekend they arrested two men, aged 20 and 24, who were caught red-handed with a substance suspected to be ‘cat’. He indicated that the drug-dealing duo was caught in a raid at their rented house in Phase 1 location.
