FRANCISTOWN:Letlhakane police  are investigating an incident in which a 42-year-old man of Mopipi village  allegedly murdered his live-in lover and mother of his children.

According to Letlhakane station commander Superintendent Michael Maphephu they have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with allegations that he kiled his girlfriend aged 41 at their rented house.

The suspect will appear before Letlhakane Magistrate court tomorrow (Thursday). He said that the incident took place yesterday night at Phase One location. The police suspected that the suspect used a sharp instrument to sta his partner all over the body.


“After receiving a report from the lover's neighbours, on duty police discovered the deceased's body in a pool of blood,”added Letlhakane police station commander.

On the fateful day, the neighbours heard people screaming from the lover's rented house only to be shocked when they discovered the deceased lying unconscious.

He further stated that the couple were cohabiting and lived with their children although he wasn’t specific about their number. He further said that the couple was staying with their children. According to unconfirmed reports ,the children witnessed the heinous crime.

He stated that this is the second case of passion killing in four days in his jurisdiction.

In a similar incident, Letlhakane police chief revealed that they documented another incident last Saturday at Tawana Extension area. He said that a man killed his girlfriend whom they were living together in a rented place.
