Opposition officials have slammed the treatment of Moses Lekauakau by security agents when he was sacked as Government Implementation Coordination Office (GICO) boss last week. It is understood that Lekaukau's dismissal letter was delivered by Directorate of Intelligence Security (DIS) agents, who ordered him to vacate his office.

The director of DIS, Isaac Kgosi is said to have been part of the team that went to evict the GICO boss. Reports say Lekaukau lost his job because of allegations that he helped fund the legal battle of Gomolemo Motswaledi, who is challenging his suspension by President Ian Khama as Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) secretary general and recall as Gaborone Central parliamentary candidate.

The publicity secretary of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP), Dumelang Saleshando said he does not know how the DIS got involved in the sacking  because it is purely a labour issue. "Was this a job for the intelligence agency? Is this is why we are pumping millions into the unit?" he asked rhetorically.
