Leading women 'flaunt' Botswana diamonds

A high-powered team of three Batswana women is expected to discuss the benefits of in-country diamond beneficiation in London on 21 March.

The trio comprises the chief executive officer of De Beers Botswana, Sheila Khama; attorney general, Athaliah Molokomme; and governor of the Bank of Botswana, Linah Mohohlo.

According to a statement from the organizers of the event, the London-based Chatam House, the three will discuss the imminent opening of the Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB), which is scheduled to be opened on 18 March. They will also be "examining what beneficiation means for their home country." Alex Vines, of the Chatam House's Africa Programme will chair the half-day discussion.
