Leader of opposition motion defeated

SELEBI-PHIKWE: A motion by a Botswana Congress Party (BCP) councillor here, calling for the creation of the post of leader of the political opposition in the local council, was shot down on Monday.

Members of the opposition, who supported the motion, were determined to ensure that it would pass but the numerical advantage worked in favour of the ruling party.
