In a major blow to convicted and sentenced fraudsters Lyndon Mothusi and Herbert Sikhakhane, the Registrar of the High Court Godfrey Nthomiwa has struck the lawyers off the legal practitioners' roll.

On Monday, former magistrate and now Deputy Registrar and Master of the High Court, Nelson Bopa, convicted and sentenced Mothusi and Sikhakhane to 18 months and six months respectively for crimes involving conspiracy, fraud and money laundering at the Village Magistrates' Court in Gaborone.

The lawyers have appealed their conviction and are currently out on bail pending their appeal. But in a swift move, the Law Society of Botswana motivated an urgent application for the two to be struck off the practitioners' roll in accordance with Sections 51(7) and 45 (11) of the Legal Practitioner's Act.
