Lawyer's sickness delays clemency application for death row convict

The lawyer, Ookeditse Maphakwane told Mmegi that the application is in the pipeline but it got delayed by his prolonged sick leave. The lawyer was expected to make a formal application to the Clemency Board after Court of Appeal dismissed the case brought by the Zimbabwean national.

Two weeks ago, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Francistown High Court, which found Dube guilty on all four counts of murder and sent him to the gallows. Dube is said to have murdered Francistown-based Zimbabwean lawyer and his cousin Patricia Majoko, 37, her two children, Dumisani and Amotjilani (then seven and five old respectively) and her maid Lindiwe Ncube, 40, in September 2001.
