NKOYAPHIRI: The process of land registration also known as the fourth component of the Land Administration Procedures, Capacity and Systems (LAPCAS) reform and Systematic Land Adjudication (SLA) rolled out smoothly in Mogoditshane on Saturday as residents of Nkoyaphiri and Senthumole wards came in droves eager to claim their plots.

According to the Land Registration Coordinator, Tshepho Ramhakana, this was the first time they operated during the weekend and brought their services close to the people. He said they have decided to open during the weekend as they have realised that even though their main offices  operate from  Mogoditshane, Mmopane and Gabane main kgotlas from 8am until 6pm, many people are unable to claim or register their plots due to various reasons such as jobs and other responsibilities.

He said that the temporary offices brought to Nkoyaphiri and Senthumole kgotlas have been a success as many people flocked there to claim their plots.Even though during the day numbers of people coming forward to claim their plots reduced, others kept coming one by one. "We expect more people to show up to claim their wards. I encourage those who would not be able to claim theirs today to come in large numbers even during the week," Ramhakana told The Monitor.
