Land fraud accused on the run

FRANCISTOWN: The land fraud case involving a syndicate of over 30 people commences tomorrow with an application by the prosecution for a warrant of arrest for the first accused, a public officer, believed to be on the run.

The accused are facing more than 80 counts relating to the unlawful purchase of land and bribing of public officers.

The first accused, Ursula Moloko Mokgokong who is a senior state counsel, seconded to the Lands Department, has not appeared in court since the case first appeared for mention on August 5 last year and prosecutors from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), as well as investigators from the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crimes (DCEC) believe she has absconded.
