Land deal accused to be tried separately

All 33 people implicated in a multi-million Pula land fraud will now have separate trials, Mmegi has established.

This was after four of the accused successfully challenged Regional Magistrate Lorraine Makati-Lesang's ruling of October 2010 that the joinder of all 33 was proper.

Justice Zibani Makhwade of Francistown High Court has ruled in favour of Moloko Mokgokong, Silvia Chapi, Nchidzi Mabutho and Daniel Morupisi. The accused face 85 counts of corruption emanating from a public transaction, corrupting public officers and falsification of records.
